What's Your Angle? There are many different reasons why you should write a article. It could be to educate your reader about a particular topic that you like. It could be to promote your business and the products or services it offers.
Here are two angles which you should consider before writing your article. Are your trying to sell the reader on your product or service, or are you writing for ezine publishers for their email lists? Depending on your desired outcome this will greatly influence how and what you write about in your article. More Sales? If you are using your article as a sales funnel then your outcome will be for the reader to click through to your website for more information about the service or product you are offering and perhaps opt in to your email list to receive something like a free training course. Make sure that when they click through to your website the page they go to is relevant to what your article was about. It is always a good idea to give them more ideas and tips, along with useful information. Let them decide if what you are offering is worth the opt in. Do not be pushy. When they land on what is called a landing page it's no good scaring a potential customer off by being pushy and hype your product. Always let them know what the benefits are for them. Not just how good your product is. A Publishers Email Newsletter. If your desired outcome is for publishers to include your information in their email, then your articel should include lots of helpful information and tips that will help your reader. Do not include any links throughout the body of the article to your website. This will look more like self promotion rather than a helpful article. Think of it from the publishers point of view. They will be looking for articles which share knowledge and will help their subscribers in whatever it is they are doing. They will be looking for good layout, great content, no self promotion, relevancy. If you do it right with a lot of articles, then who knows where this can lead. Maybe they will ask you for more contributions for their subscribers on a regular basis. That would be a great result! You don't have to stick with one or the other, you can try both types of article. One for the sales and one that will greatly educate your readers in whatever field it is that you are a expert in. Four Mistakes to Avoid before Article Submission. Here are four rules you should consider when using article marketing. By avoiding them you will increase your chances of success with your articles.
Keyword Over-Use. Keep your keywords for the Headline, first and last sentences of the text and use them around 2%/3% throughout the article. Over use can make your article unreadable, and that's exactly what you do not want to happen. Make it all sound natural and flow together. With over use not only will google penalize you, more importantly your reader's will too and not read the whole article. The Resource Box is your Call to Action – Not Just for Boring For More Information... Yes, I have been guilty of this myself when I first started out with article marketing. My resource box looked similar to this: For more information regarding Article Marketing please click this link to visit my website www.articlemarketingresource.weebly.com That is not really a call to action! A better example is: Getting traffic is what Article Marketing is about, for Traffic Generation Strategies using your articles read this free book. Reaching more reader's with fewer articles is a much better option than shooting in the dark with hundred's of articles to write. How to do this can be found at my blog. This a better call to action and gives the reader a reason to click through to your website, they will be getting more ideas and help about article marketing. Always read the TOS before writing your resource box to find out what you can cannot do! Make sure the spelling bots are dead. This really goes without saying, use a word processor with spell check on it so you can avoid the obvious spelling mistakes. Edit your article and proof read it before publishing it. Check for grammatical and spelling errors. Too Long – Too Short. What Do We Do? How many words can you write and hold the readers attention? If your article is too short, the directories won't publish it. They are looking for good quality, unique content for their own websites, that should be front and foremost in your mind when deciding where to publish your articles. But how long should your articles be? Most directories want a minimum of 400 word and preferably 500 word article. Keeping your readers attention can be quite difficult, so it's better to break the article into shorter paragraph's with sub headings to catch the readers attention if they are just skimming through looking for answers. A little like this article. Notice how I have used sub headings, highlighted to catch your attention. It would look a lot different without those headings and just one long text. Most people wouldn't even bother to read through it all. In conclusion:
How To Use Search Engine Optimization For Greater Results.A major part of your internet marketing strategy using article marketing must include SEO - that is Search Engine Optimization. What is SEO? SEO is used by google to determine whether your content is relevant to a search a user has asked google to perform. For instance, if a user types into the search box "How to lose weight" they will expect google to return a list of relevant articles, videos, pictures and websites relevant to that search. By placing the key words "how to lose weight" into the article heading and throughout the articles body text, google's search engine crawlers will then be able to determine if your content is relevant to the search. How do I use SEO? It's all in the keywords which you use. Keywords like, how to lose weight, are searched for by thousands of people every day. So it's not really SEO, that's what us internet marketers call it, it's really a matter of choosing the correct keywords. Your keywords should be placed in the title of the post and used in the first and last sentences too. Some SEO experts also recommend around 2% - 3% of your article should consist also of the main keywords you have chosen. This is a matter of debate, but using them often is better than using them only as outlined above. How do I know which Keywords to use? Fortunately google has provided us internet marketers with a brilliant tool called Google Adwords. You will have to sign up with them first and create an account before you can use this tool. Here are some tips on finding good keywords. Think of your search for keywords as if you are shopping. Here is an example I like to use. Let's say you are looking for some new shoes. So you type into google's keyword tool "shoes". You will get a list of words relating to the word shoes, like men's shoes, women's shoes, children's shoes etc. You click through on men's shoes. Now you get a new list of suggestions like, men's running shoes, men's casual shoes, men's outdoor shoes, formal shoes. Are you getting the idea yet? They are broken down into relevant categories all relating to the first keyword of "shoes". The keyword tool will also tell you how many times a certain word or phrase is searched for in google per month. So as of now, September 2015, men's running shoes are searched for 18,100 times per month. See the image below. Notice also that there is a list of other relevant keywords, which you can use for your articles, all relating to the first keyword of "shoes", and how many times they are also searched for per month.
The other areas of the picture relate to ppc advertising which I will not get into in this article. Putting it all together. Firstly, you should be writing articles relevant to your business. You can categorize your articles into sub-categories by using google adwords keyword ideas, as outlined above. Each of the sub-categories can be used as a new article for your website or for publishing to directories. Once you have your keywords, write around 400-500 word articles including your keywords in the main title, first and last sentence of the body of the text. Around 2%/3% of the body should consist of the keywords, but don't overdo this as your article may become unreadable. Just FYI. Conclusion. Using SEO as part of your article marketing strategy will help your article get found through googles search engines, and hopefully drive more traffic to your website. For more information on using article marketing and seo to generate more traffic read my book "Article Marketing Expert" where you can read 4 Effective Traffic Generating Strategies. Couple this with SEO keyword tools, this will give your article marketing a great boost of exposure and traffic. Put into effect these strategies and leverage your article marketing, all using one article, read my post "Get more reach with your Articles." How to Reach More People with Fewer Articles. How do you reach a larger audience with your Article Marketing Strategies? Is it just a case of scale your writing and publishing up, write more and publish more? In this post I will discuss with you my thoughts on scaling up and why maybe it's not such a great idea.
Quality vs Quantity, When you write a article and publish it you then keep track of how many times it has been viewed and shared. You may also keep track of how many times readers have clicked through to your website. Let's face it, that's why we are writing in the first place! So let's take it that after a week you see that your article has been read 50 times and 5 people have decided to click through to your blog or website. Time to think about scaling up right? Well it makes sense that with one article you get 5 leads, how about if you write another ten articles, will this mean you are going to get 50 new leads? Maybe, is the answer. But of course there is one problem, you are going to have to spend the next five hours of your life writing another ten articles! I would like to suggest that it is a much better article marketing strategy to write one really good article and publish this article on a website that has thousands of visitor's per day. This one article could yield much better results by publishing it on say CNN, now hang on I hear you say, how on earth can I get my articles published to CNN? Well, firstly, have you tried to find out how to? Go to the CNN website and look up how to get published there. Thousands of writers have their work published on CNN so why not you or I? Where's the Traffic? Maybe not CNN? Well ask yourself this question, where is all the traffic going related to the subject of my article? How can I publish their? Who else is publishing their articles their? What are they writing about? How many views are they getting? These are all relevant questions you should be asking yourself. Can you imagine the prestige it would give you if you could get your word out to potentially millions of people in one day? In conclusion: Yes by all means write lots of articles and publish them to different directories. And look for the best place to publish with your best articles, the one with the most visitors! This has to be a better Article Marketing Strategy than shooting in the dark. What's The Difference?Article Marketing and Blogging are two entirely separate strategies when it comes to internet marketing. Writing and publishing articles on directory websites is a strategy to get your word out there on the web and build backlinks to your website.
Duplication is NO good! If you write and publish articles on directories you might be tempted into thinking that it's also a good idea to put those same articles on your website or blog. Well, here is a good reason not to do that, forget about what google thinks about duplicate content for a moment and think of this from a prospective customer. If they find and read your article, they may and hopefully do find it interesting and relevant enough for them to click on your links in the resource box found at the bottom of your article. Then go through to your website, where, you also have a blog. And there is the exact same article they have just read. That would probably seem a little strange to them and maybe a little annoying that they are getting the exact same information. Why did they click through? They click through for more information! Not the to read the exact same information. When you are using article marketing to build your business, give your reader a reason to stay on your site, give them what they came to your site or blog for, that is more information about your company and the services that it offers. Expand on that which you have written in your article, feed their questions with answers. So, why bother with a blog? A blog is a entirely different strategy. Think of a blog as a news feed for your business. It's keeping your readers and customers up-to-date with all the news and gossip regarding your business and it's services or products. So here is the conclusion about article marketing vs blogging: - Use your Article Marketing as a way and means to drive traffic to your website and/or blog. - Use your blog as a news feed to keep your readers and customers updated about the latest updates to your products and services.
