What's Your Angle?
There are many different reasons why you should write a article. It could be to educate your reader about a particular topic that you like. It could be to promote your business and the products or services it offers.
Here are two angles which you should consider before writing your article.
Are your trying to sell the reader on your product or service, or are you writing for ezine publishers for their email lists?
Depending on your desired outcome this will greatly influence how and what you write about in your article.
More Sales?
If you are using your article as a sales funnel then your outcome will be for the reader to click through to your website for more information about the service or product you are offering and perhaps opt in to your email list to receive something like a free training course.
Make sure that when they click through to your website the page they go to is relevant to what your article was about. It is always a good idea to give them more ideas and tips, along with useful information. Let them decide if what you are offering is worth the opt in.
Do not be pushy. When they land on what is called a landing page it's no good scaring a potential customer off by being pushy and hype your product.
Always let them know what the benefits are for them. Not just how good your product is.
A Publishers Email Newsletter.
If your desired outcome is for publishers to include your information in their email, then your articel should include lots of helpful information and tips that will help your reader.
Do not include any links throughout the body of the article to your website. This will look more like self promotion rather than a helpful article.
Think of it from the publishers point of view. They will be looking for articles which share knowledge and will help their subscribers in whatever it is they are doing. They will be looking for good layout, great content, no self promotion, relevancy. If you do it right with a lot of articles, then who knows where this can lead. Maybe they will ask you for more contributions for their subscribers on a regular basis. That would be a great result!
You don't have to stick with one or the other, you can try both types of article. One for the sales and one that will greatly educate your readers in whatever field it is that you are a expert in.
